Fashion Week Highlights – It’s Still a Dream Come True!

Fashion Week Highlights – It’s Still a Dream Come True!

Fashion Week is ongoing in major cities across the world, such as London, Milan, and Paris. But personally, I am still in a nostalgic state of mind over NYFW! And I must say, the experience, everything from the energized crowd to the whimsical atmosphere, is still A DREAM COME TRUE!!

I hail from a small town in NC. And yes, just as Gretchen Wilson once sang, we do say “Hey y’all and Yee-haw”! Now living in NYC, I guess it’s safe to say I’m just a “small town girl living in the big city.” Fashion has taken on a whole new meaning in my book. And attending a major Fashion Week runway show, specifically NYFW, is something I would have only dreamed about in NC.

So now, even being able to attend a large number of shows, I do not take the honor for granted. As I’m sitting and waiting for the show to start, the lights dimming down low, it’s the moment right before the bright lights flash across the room and the music begins, I still get a few butterflies of excitement in my stomach. And I think, WOW, this is AMAZING, and once again, A DREAM COME TRUE!

Current design details — cutouts, sheer effects, and lace appliqué – are modern touches to looks that are definitely here for the long haul. So I always like to keep an eye out for how designers choose to incorporate these trends. Sheer effects, such as sheer overlay, always feels so ethereal to me. So here are a few examples of some breathtaking numbers that caught my eye!

Lace appliqués are timely and classic. And here are some modern looks utilizing this fabric that I consider a MUST HAVE!

I’m a huge fan of Project Runway and so I’m always eager to see which former designers are still showcasing their work. Season 5 winner Leanne Marshall presents twice a year and creates bridal looks at well. Her S/S 2015 collection utilized a great deal of sheer overlay and some eye-catching cutouts, which are all definitely a CAN’T MISS!
