2015 CFDA Awards — Best Dressed

By Shannon Moody, NYC Editor

Each spring, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) holds its annual awards ceremony, honoring the best designers of that year—in menswear, womenswear, and accessories. The CFDA Awards are more than just a mere awards ceremony, but too about creating more major red carpet moments of the year. Thus the CFDA Awards are commonly dubbed as the Oscars of fashion.

So in light of many more stunning red carpet moments for 2015, here are my top picks from the 2015 CFDA Awards!

Victoria Beckham

Super elegant and classy looking in her own creations by Victoria Beckham, accessorizing with a gorgeous Jacob & Co. ring.

Michelle Monoghan

Michelle looked radiant in this elegantly beaded, racer-front gown with a sheer skirt, paired with a metallic clutch (both Monique Lhuillier), and geometric Irene Neuwirth danglers. Glam squad details — St. Polished nails; Steffi Willmann for makeup; and Leon Gorman for hair.

Vanessa Hudgens

What a stunning look for Vanessa, a Sachin & Babi Noir dress, with a high-low hem and illusion neck, plus a patterned clutch and sleek low bun. For her accessories, she went with black Stuart Weitzman nudist sandals and Casa Reale jewelry.

Joan Smalls

Joan struck the perfect balance of a super sexy look, but not over-the-top, still maintaining a classy, ladylike vibe. She donned a plunging, backless, wide-legged Calvin Klein Collection dress with criss-cross gold Aquazzura sandals and Jennifer Fisher jewels.

Lily Aldridge

Lily was fringe-tastic in this navy blue Thakoon tea-length number, adorned with fringed pailettes, plus sharp black accessories including Tabitha Simmons heels and a Lee Savage clutch. She also paired with her look some lovely Eva Fehren jewelry. Bryce Scarlett created this luscious wavy hair, while Quinn Murphy perfected this Sunkist beauty look. Styling was courtesy of La Marque NYC.

Emmy Rossum

Emmy was a standout in this black Dion Lee halter consisting of slashes of sheer fabric and skin, with an elegantly floaty skirt. She coordinated perfectly with her look a gold corrugated Lee Savage clutch and metallic-heeled Paul Andrew pumps, plus Eva Fehren jewels.

Katharine McPhee

And to cap off my list, the beautiful Kat McPhee, going a bit more casual, but hey, the CFDA Awards are celebrating fashion of all kinds, gowns to RTW. Kat donned a full-length, wide-lapel Amanda Wakeley duster, worn over a gauzy crop top and black pencil skirt (both Paule Ka), accessorized with knockout Rene Caovilla heels, a metallic Lee Savage clutch, and a pair of Leisure Society glasses. Two other jewelry pieces to mention, a Marina B. ring and Lana jewelry. She was styled by Jeff K. Kim.
